Invisalign is a digital system that allows dentists to straighten your teeth. By using digital scans of your teeth we can plan where your teeth need to go, show you what the intended result will look like and make you aware of any issues you may face.
Invisalign then manufacture a series of clear aligners to move your teeth from where they are now to the desired end result.
Invisalign is a cosmetic system, so the first thing to ask yourself is ‘Do I like my smile?’
If the answer is ‘No’ then, generally, the best way to improve a smile is to:
Invisalign does the straightening bit in a way that:
Our Invisalign packages typically cost between £4000 for simple cases (most of the cases we treat using Invisalign are simple cases) up to £5000 for complex cases, which includes:
We offer 2 years interest free credit for Invisalign treatment or 5 year credit at 7.9% APR.
In just the same way as fixed braces, treatment will take as long as it needs to take. A simple case will take around 3-6 months of treatment, a complex case could take up to 2 years
Invisalign, like any tool, will only be successful if the treatment is appropriately planned by the dentist, and then worn by the patient.
The vast majority of unsuccessful brace treatments are due to patient non compliance. In simple terms; if you wear the aligners for the prescribed 22 hours a day and the teeth will move as planned.
The aligners place small forces on your teeth which will encourage them to move as long as the aligner is worn for 22 hours in any 24-hour period.
Each aligner is worn for around a week, gently pushing your teeth towards straighter teeth. After a week a new aligner is inserted which will continue applying pressure to your teeth to continue the treatment. This continues until we have reached your treatment goals.
No, you are never too old!
Neither Invisalign or Fixed braces are ‘better’, each system has its own set of flaws and benefits.
It is these benefits and flaws that dictate which system will be better for each individual patient. Here at Spires Dental Clinic we recommend the system that will be right for the individual patient. We have no inherent preference for one system over the other, but we do prefer certain systems for certain situations.
There are two main reasons why you wouldn’t choose Invisalign:
Yes and no. Yes, you can take out the aligners to eat your main meals and clean your teeth and gums, but no, you cannot eat or drink anything other than water with the aligners in place.
This dramatically cuts down on snacking in between meals, which is no bad thing when we are thinking about the well being of teeth.
Historically, aligners could only achieve simple, tipping movements because the aligners could only place a pressure on the teeth in certain directions.
Attachments are small, tooth coloured handles that are glued to the teeth so that the aligner can move the teeth more predictably, and in more ways than ever before.
The attachments are very easy to place and very easy to remove.
