What are the benefits?
The main benefits of Invisalign are:
- It looks fantastic as the aligners are very hard to spot, almost invisible some would say (as the name suggests)
- You can remove the aligners for cleaning purposes making them ideal for those people who are susceptible to gum disease.
- The aligners don’t rub at your cheeks and tongue the way fixed braces do. For some people this is a massive plus.
- It’s great for people who have a special occasion planned that may fall slap bang in the middle of treatment. We recommend it over fixed braces for people who are getting married- click, out come the aligners for the big day and then, *click*, back they go in the next day.
- The treatment takes up to 5 months for simple cases.
Are there any downsides?
Obviously there are downsides to all types of dentistry, as there is with invisalign. These are:
- You can remove them. Yes i know we said this is a good thing BUT if you don’t wear them for 20-22 hours a day you won’t get any tooth movement and your treatment will fail. Sometimes gluing fixed braces to your teeth is the best option for certain people.
- The aligners take a little getting used to (although less than fixed braces), and may affect your speech. It takes around 2 weeks for this to settle down.
- There are no tweaks we can carry out during treatment. Fixed braces allow us to respond to your needs as they arise, giving us greater freedom in treatment planning. Invisalign planning needs to be spot on. Therefore in combined brace/smile enhancement cases we will often recommend fixed braces to give us more leeway.
- Treatment can take up to 2 years in complex case, the same as with fixed braces
How much does it cost?
The cost of Invisalign treatment starts at £2950 for simple cases up to £4000 for more complex cases. This includes:
- The treatment to move your teeth
- All associated planning, models, written reports and X-rays.
- Teeth whitening– the perfect companion to straightening your teeth. We love including whitening as the end result looks even better and it saves you £450. Win, win!
- Minor cosmetic contouring to smooth away any chips and uneven edges.
Extra costs include;
- The removal of teeth to make space – £117 per tooth
- Bonding – sometimes the teeth are so badly chipped they require composite restorations to be bonded to the teeth to restore the correct proportions. This is discussed at your initial consultation. From £95 per tooth.

This treatment can achieve proper alignment while being minimally visible compared to other orthodontic solutions.
